Midland Leadership Framework

The Midland leadership framework is a joint collaboration between Waikato, BOP, Lakes, Tairawhiti and Taranaki DHB.


The Aim of the Framework

To identify for Midland leaders and managers learning opportunities that enable them to extend their present level of practice.
To assist Midland to retain its leaders by offering high quality in house development opportunities and career planning
Support the initiatives on the framework being based on Leadership competencies to ensure consistency and create a common language.
To support participating DHBs develop and maintain learning and development initiatives.

Key Reasons for Creating the Framework

Future workforce development is crucial in health and it is known that leadership in any organisation is directly related to the organisation's success.
All DHBs in the Midland region run 'leadership' learning initiatives. By joining together the advantages are:
Resource combination ie time, funds and expertise
Greater numbers to increase frequency of learning initiatives
Networking, coaching and mentoring opportunities
Seeing how other DHBs function
Increasing buying power and opportunity to purchase higher quality education
Continuity of leadership/management skills across the region
High level of quality control and opportunity for closer partnerships with providers
